Primary English Leaders Conference 2022

Following on from the success of our first primary English Leads conference last year which was virtual, we invite you to attend our face-to-face conference this year. We have chosen three guest speakers to inspire your English priorities for the year.

  • David Didau, educational blogger, English specialist at Ormiston Academies Trust and author of ‘Making Meaning in English’ (2021), will explore how we can tackle the decline in writing standards across Surrey schools post Covid-19.
  • Lauren Meadows, founding Director of Greenfields Education and author of ‘Pupil Book Study: Reading’ (2022), will be sharing her approach to evaluating your reading curriculum.
  • Jean Gross, national expert on tackling disadvantage in all its forms and writer of ‘Reaching the Unseen Children: Practical Strategies for Closing Stubborn Attainment Gaps in Disadvantaged Groups’ (2021), will provide her expertise on the Surrey context.

The beliefs, knowledge, understanding and/or teaching practices this programme aims to address:

  • Offering some of the latest thinking around raising writing standards
  • Understanding one particular approach to evaluating your reading curriculum
  • Up-to-date content around supporting attainment gaps and educational equity for all

Intended Impact on practice:

  • Improved knowledge and understanding of current best practice will support improved teaching and progress for all pupils.
