The best available evidence indicates that great teaching is the most important lever schools have to improve outcomes for their pupils. This programme is for KS3 and KS4 English leads (2 per school) to explore the evidence-based principles of metacognition and self-regulation in the classroom and consider how this might be included in classroom practice to improve learning outcomes. This programme will explore the evidence from the EEF and others through a subject-specific lens. Sessions will include opportunities for KS3 and KS4 leads to discuss separately their own Key Stage and for joint learning and discussion across both Key Stages.
This programme will focused on collaborative peer learning and the development of communities of practice. The programme will draw on practitioners’ own knowledge and experience and set high expectations. Underpinning the work is a commitment to praxis: learn, reflect, apply, reflect.
