This is SAfE’s 2022 Leadership Summit. Belonging without Barriers is a day-long online conference for Surrey’s school-led system leaders: Headteachers, Heads of School and MAT CEOs. This year’s Leadership Summit brings together national experts who lead strategic and cultural change in addressing equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI). Our day together will also provide an opportunity to share an understanding of what ‘belonging’ means in Surrey’s education system, through illustrations of the lived experiences of children, young people and adults in our communities, who can help us understand how to lead improvement and change throughout our schools and Trusts.
The day will comprise of keynote speeches, a cross-phase round table discussion and a choice of online workshops. The programme will run from 9am to 3pm. We encourage our delegates to allocate this day to our online conference, if possible, in the same way as you would a face to face event.

Dawn Lewison, Diversity and Inclusion Specialist, employers Network for Equality and Inclusion (ENEI)

Intended impact on practice:
• Delegates leave with an understanding of the central drive for strategic leadership of inclusivity and the scope of sustainable impact and change required; by all, for all.
• Delegates leave with cohesive messages linking narrative from expert speakers to the relevance for Surrey schools; pupils, practitioners, leaders.
• Delegates have ‘take-aways’ from the day that make a difference for their school’s/organisation’s leadership for and implementation of strategic approach to inclusivity and improvement.
Intended outcomes for disadvantaged pupils:
• Continual review, adjustment and nurturing of inclusive leadership, behaviour and practice in all areas of school life will ensure that all pupils, including disadvantaged pupils are not hindered in their education by unintentional barriers.
